The dukes of Charity have long been known as the “Dukes of the Sea”, owing to the duchy’s major role in Tandia’s shipping.
When Duke Florian came into power, taxes immediately shot up. As the previous duke had been lax in maintaining the current infrastructure, they needed funding to see to the deficit. Though obviously unpopular with the population of their own duchy, Florian’s actions have made them popular outside their borders.
